Dr. Shaun Briggs runs his dental practice like he’s taking care of no one but family members. Each patient is an individual and is in charge of his or her own dental health.

This perspective on dental care makes patients comfortable and open with Dr. Briggs — which means they typically have healthier mouths.

“Patients are in charge here,” Dr. Briggs says. “I’m not a pushy guy and don’t like to feel like a salesman. I make recommendations, but then leave it up to the patient to decide what procedures we do and which ones we don’t.”

It’s the same thing he would do for any member of his family — make suggestions without making them feel guilty,

regardless of what treatment they choose.

“I enjoy dentistry,” Dr. Briggs says. “I enjoy helping people solve their oral health problems.”

Dr. Briggs was raised in Mapleton and graduated from BYU before attending dental school at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

He was excited to find an opportunity for a successful practice close to family and friends.

When he bought the practice in 2006, he retained the same experienced staff and has had little turnover since.

“It would be hard to think you could find a more professional and kind staff than ours,” Dr. Briggs says.

His staff works hard to make each patient feel like the one-and-only patient of the day. Giving each patient top-quality service keeps his practice growing — even during the recession.

While Dr. Briggs loves dentistry, he also spends a fair amount of time up in the air. He’s a pilot (and member of a local flying club) and enjoys skydiving.

Free Medical Tip: Take charge of your own dental care. You should go to a dentist who talks openly about treatment options but let’s you be in charge.    – Dr. Shaun Briggs
