Last December, James Curran, known as Jamesthemormon, wrote a rap about serving those in need — “It’s your turn, you can pass the test, or you can just chill like a pacifist” — and filmed a music video as he he gave pizza to homeless men and women in Utah.
“I didn’t have the relationships I do now, so instead of getting sponsors to buy food I just bought 14 boxes of pizza myself,” James said.
The Provo musician has grown in local popularity over the last year, collaborating with artists like Mimi Knowles. This year James used his connections for good in a music video featuring an R&B version he wrote of “Angels We Have Heard On High.”
On Dec. 10, James tweeted Orem’s Bam Bam’s BBQ, inviting them to be a part of the Christmas charity video. Bam Bam’s BBQ tweeted back minutes later:
@jamesthemormon YES!!!! That would be amazing!! Let's go big!!

On Dec. 17, a Bam Bam’s BBQ truck and handful of employees traveled to Salt Lake City with James and guest artists Junior Maile, Yahosh Bonner, Jay Warren and videographer Cameron Gade to give more than 300 meals and dozens of clothing items to men and women in need.
“Writing the rap, getting the other artists on board, filming and editing took less than a week,” James says. “I wanted to promote the true meaning of Christmas, which is Christ. And the pure love of Christ is charity.”
