Kim Aviles begins a new endeavor as founder and owner of KFA & Associates and Utah Classic Events after spending more than 13 successful years in the hotel sales, marketing and management field.
Most recently, Kim held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing for Zermatt Resort in Midway.
While at Zermatt, Kim spearheaded sales of 50 percent occupancy for the entire first year of the yet-to-be-open property.
Prior to her tenure at Zermatt, Aviles was with Marriott International for over 10 years. She held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing for four properties (University Park Marriott, Salt Lake; Philadelphia Downtown Marriott – Convention Center, Philadelphia; Seaview Marriott Resort & Spa, Galloway Township, NJ; Residence Inn by Marriott – Somers Point, NJ). During her time with Marriott, the trend-setting executive had a combined booking pace of more than $15 million.
The six-time Golden Circle Award winner was recognized for exceeding her sales goals by over 215 percent from 1994-99. She also achieved the Sales Excellence Award in 2000 and 2001 for exceeding her goals by over 312 percent each year.
Kim not only established a record-setting pace at Marriott but created innovative training and mentoring programs that led to positive results at each property. Under Kim’s direction, more than 30 employees moved on to obtain executive or management positions within the company. Well-respected throughout the industry, Kim has established coaching techniques and counseling systems that remain in place today.
Kim is actively involved in numerous charitable and community organizations including Midway Business Alliance, Kiwanis Club – Heber Valley Chapter, Corporate Alliance Provo Hub, Chamber of Commerce for Heber, Wasatch County, and Salt Lake, Utah Tourism Council, Go Utah – Grow organization, Hotel Tourism Association and Hospitality Institute for UVSC.
