“Salem is just a great place to be,” says Robert Nelson, owner of Robert Nelson Construction and developer of Mt. Loafer View. “It has the best of both worlds. There are things to do and see while living in an area that isn’t overly crowded.”

Local High School: Lehi

Hot fact: Golf course development, close to shopping and entertainment centers

What more can a name imply that captures the breathtaking views of the towering Wasatch Front, the peaks of the Oquirrh Mountains and Utah Lake, all in the same vista? With 7,396 yards of challenging golf (from the back tees), this course is perfect for players of all skill levels. Southmoor is the Eagle Mountain Links’ last golf-front neighborhood within The Ranches.

Let’s not forget this dream-come-true neighborhood concept. Known for not holding back in style, Eagle Mountain Links has raised the bar when it comes to building communities for families. Southmoor is no exception. Close to shopping and entertainment, Southmoor’s own private association includes amenities that cater to the family lifestyle. Included are two separate neighborhood parks, a large private community pool, a separate kiddies pool, picnic pavilions, playground equipment, a tennis/basketball court, and walking paths. Southmoor delivers the security families are looking for.

As for architectural aesthetics, Southmoor harbors the trendsetting design values sweeping today’s real estate marketplace. STILLWATER

Saratoga Springs
Home size: 4,000 to 5,500 square feet
Home price: $620,000 to $800,000
High School: Lehi
Elementary: Saratoga Shores

Hot Fact: Million-dollar views of the lake and the mountains. A chip shot from Talon’s Cove Golf Course.

Four years ago, Matt Kriser of Kriser Homes envisioned a community made up of affordable, high-quality condominiums that would be loaded with features usually found only in “luxury” condominiums. His vision came to life as Belle Monet — located in Pleasant Grove.

With the incredible success of Belle Monet, Matt and his team at Kriser Homes have taken the theme of a luxury lifestyle and moved it to the other side of Utah Lake where residents boast lakeside living and the most beautiful mountain views in the county. Stillwater — Kriser Homes’ newest offering — is located in Saratoga Springs, providing the serenity of west-of-the-lake living in a fast-growing community made up of great families and increasing opportunities.

Stillwater consists of beautifully designed homes with a cottage-style theme, giving the neighborhood a fresh feel while including the finest in time-tested features sure to please.  The community includes a clubhouse, pool and beautiful open spaces.

Of particular interest is that Kriser Homes immediately began construction on 10 homes in Stillwater, and those homes are now ready for purchase and quick move-in.

These available homes range in style from charming, cozy two-story cottages to spacious, open ramblers.

They are designed with typical Kriser Homes attention to detail, creating an idyllic setting for families of all kinds. Kriser never sacrifices quality, and homebuyers will be thrilled with the level of luxury found in Stillwater at Saratoga Springs.

SUNCREST

Traverse Ridge Mountain, Draper
High School: Lone Peak
Elementary School: Ridgeline

The SunCrest Master Planned Community straddles the serpentine ridgeline of the Traverse Ridge Mountain. Eighty percent of the land area of SunCrest is in Utah County, but the early developments were in Salt Lake County. The latest of the communities of SunCrest are on the “South Slope.”

Those communities are South Field, being developed and built by Utah’s largest builder, Richmond American Homes; Gulbrandsen Communities, building Eagle Crest, a gated, planned-unit development; and J & J & Sons Construction building up-scale homes at Eagle Ridge. The homes at Eagle Crest and Eagle Ridge have arguably some of the best views of any home sites along the Wasatch Front.

SunCrest will be completing its SunCrest Club this summer. This much anticipated community center will provide SunCrest residents with a stunning outdoor pool, hot tubs, expansive decks and exercise facility.  In addition, the first LDS Church meetinghouse is under construction and scheduled for completion later this year.

In December, SunCrest received approval from Draper City to complete two custom home site subdivisions in Utah County. TallWoods is a 58-lot community which is gated, with private streets.

“It is becoming increasingly difficult for a consumer to buy a completed lot while having their choice of builders,” says Curt Dowdle, SunCrest’s director of sales and marketing. “TallWoods is simply a spectacular, heavily wooded and secluded custom home community.”

The home sites start in the $280s. The second community is called Mercer Retreat; a community similar to Mercer Reserve which was sold out in days in 2005. Mercer Retreat is on the south entry to SunCrest, offering a spectacular view over the Dry Creek area of Highland. Of the 21 lots platted, more than half have already been sold.  Both TallWoods and Mercer Retreat lots are sold exclusively by the staff at the SunCrest Information Center, (801) 553-9300.

From Utah County, the southern access is from Highland Parkway, which runs north from the Alpine Highway, just east of the Micron (Flash Technologies) facility. Then follow the road about three miles to the SunCrest Information Center.

THE PRESERVE AT MAPLETON

1600 S. Main St., Mapleton
Lot size: From 3/4-acre to 6-acre lots
Lot prices: From $350,000 to $2 million
High School: Springville
Junior High School: Mapleton
Elementary: Mapleton

Hot Fact: With the purchase of qualified lots, new owners will receive a Land Rover LR3 from Land Rover American Fork or his-and-hers Rolex watches from Losee Jewelers.

Life in Mapleton, one of Utah’s most desirable communities, is miles from city living but sits just 15 minutes from major retail, recreation and cultural venues. The sweet life that is The Preserve is Mapleton’s newest exclusive development. This three-phase development is located on the east bench and features 60 generous lots from 3/4-acre to six-acres that provide each resident with stunning mountain and valley views.  Throughout the community, meandering trails, bubbling streams with pedestrian bridges and open green space provide continuity while accenting the already stunning surrounding landscape.

Strict covenants before, during and after construction maintain the value and integrity of the community where lot prices range from $350,000 to $2,000,000. A 12,000-square-foot model home designed by Horn and Partners Architecture and built by Provo’s Classic Construction Services — the development’s preferred architect and builder — will welcome visitors beginning 2008. Homeowners are free to work with these firms or are welcome to bring their own architect and builder.

Groundbreaking at The Preserve at Mapleton was held in November 2006 and lots are currently available in the first phase. Reservations are being taken for phases two and three. Visitors are greeted with homemade preserves or delicious maple syrup before being escorted on a driving tour. With the purchase of qualified lots, new owners will receive a Land Rover LR3 from Land Rover American Fork or his-and-hers Rolex watches from Losee Jewelers.

Marketed exclusively through Landmark Real Estate, one visit to The Preserve at Mapleton will simply remind you that, like the preserves and syrup, you have come to where the living is sweet.

THOUSAND OAKS

Top of Woodland Hills Drive, Woodland Hills
High School: Spanish Fork (Salem Hills starting in 2008)
Elementary School: Foothills
Lot Price: $180,000 to $500,000
Lot Size: 3/4-acre to 2 1/2-acre

Hot fact: Most of the lots available have 300-year-old trees that are between 30-feet and 70-feet tall.

The Thousand Oaks development, located at the apex of Woodland Hills, enjoys the best of large-lot living while experiencing a real sense of community.

Located 6,400 feet above sea level and on the slopes of Mt. Loafer in the south part of Utah County, Thousand Oaks has tremendous views of both mountains and valleys. On a clear day, residents can see Antelope Island. The winter inversion that causes respiratory problems for valley-dwellers is nonexistent at Thousand Oaks.

Thousand Oaks differs from other developments, though, because you can’t pick a lot from a plat map. Each lot has a distinct personality and offers unique trees, views and slopes. You really need to see a lot to appreciate it.

While lots are available as large as 2 1/2 acres, most of the approximately 90 lots remaining for sale are 3/4-acre lots. Larger lot sizes give neighbors more space between houses, but there is still a community feel to the area. People looking to retire have purchased about half the lots that have been sold so far. However, families of all kinds call the area home.

The concern some homebuyers used to have with the distance to work has lessened over the last several years as premium lots located closer to cities is becoming less available. Plus, the rural lots are closer to the mountains and the activities associated with them.

Residents enjoy new schools, with a new high school — Salem Hills High School — scheduled to open in the fall of 2008.

Those who purchase a lot owned by Grizzly Mountain Development between March 1 and May 26 will receive a free $500 gift certificate to Monarch Honda, making purchasing a snow blower for your new driveway a little easier.

For information, call Dave Priest at (801) 636-3643 or visit www.isellutahland.com.
