FOR LINDON’S MANDIE Maughan, it was love at first fate.

After all, this girl met boy after he had dated her cousin and a few of her friends. (Told ya: fate.)

“Whenever people ask how we met, we just laugh,” Mandie says. “It’s funny, because for years his name kept popping up in my life, and I remember thinking, ‘Who is this kid?’”

That kid would be Spanish Fork’s David Krause. Though truthfully, he needed no introduction.

“When we went on our first date, the first thing I said to him was, ‘I know way too much about you,’” Mandie laughs.

It’s complicated? Could have been. But the story of Mandie and Dave is surprisingly simple.

“In two days, I knew we were meant to be,” she says. “We both have the same weird personality, and he’s — without a doubt — the sweetest boy I’ve ever met.”

Those two days led to a storybook proposal six months later. In January 2012, Dave took Mandie on a snapshot scavenger hunt where they took pictures at momentous places of their courtship.

“You’d think I’d have known what was going on, but the whole time I was thinking, ‘Oh, this is normal,’” Mandie laughs. “Dave really outdid himself.”

After the ultimate question was popped, Mandie’s mind was filled with answers. Wedding colors? “Blush, cream and light mocha.” Theme? “Romantic vintage.” Photographer? “Kristina Curtis. She’ll go the extra mile for you.” Reception? “I’ve always loved Wadley Farms.” Gown? “It was the first dress I tried on. I love that the bottom looked like feathers.” And the headpiece? “It was actually my best friend’s. Growing up, we had always said we would share a wedding. So this was our way of doing that. She wore it at her wedding, and I wore it at mine.”

Something borrowed for a wedding that was uniquely his and hers.
