Australian Lachlan Morton cruised to a career-changing victory on the latest leg of The Tour of Utah as it rolled into Payson Thursday afternoon to cheers and ringing cowbells.
Racers traveled more than 119 miles on the route from Richfield to Payson. Most of the race day was spent on flat terrain between Richfield and Fountain Green before riders made their way up Mt. Nebo. The main peloton soon separated on the grueling climb over the Nebo Loop. That is when Morton made his move near the summit and never looked back.
Traveling at speeds of up to 50mph, Morton cruised his way down the canyon to the victory. The town of Payson showed its support and turned out to give a great atmosphere for the racers.
With three stages still to go, you still have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of these incredible athletes.
