David Archuleta hasn’t had to give up his performing talent by serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Archuleta, who is currently serving a mission in Chile, sang for the annual “Concierto de Navidad Chile.”

In the Santiago Chile Temple Christmas Concert, Archuleta performed four songs in Spanish including “Mary Did You Know?,” “Oh Holy Night,” “Little Drummer Boy” and “Los Pastores a Belen.” He was accompanied by a live orchestra and choir, but sang “Los Patores a Belen” a cappella while the audience clapped along.

There were performances by other LDS Church members and a Christmas talk by Elder Jorge F. Zeballos of the First Quorum of the Seventy.

Archuleta, who left on his mission at the end of March in 2012, gained his fame as runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol.”

Thank you the article and videos. David’s management released two albums for fans while David been away – BEGIN (an album David recorded in the last weeks before his mission) and No Matter How Far (a mix of never released and Asia-released pop and 3 songs from David’s Philippines album). In addition we’ve been so happy to see videos of him performing in the 2012 and 2013 Christmas concerts. I believe the whole 2013 concert may still be available at LDS.org – it’s a really good concert with lots of interesting international Christmas songs, a retelling of the Christmas story in music and dance. We are expecting David back from his mission around April 2014.

Thank you for posting. It was such a great Christmas gift to all and so unexpected. David looks and sounds even more amazing. No one brings the reverence to Christmas songs like David does IMO. Excited for his return.
