Provo teen grabs Usher and Shakira’s attention on ‘The Voice’

Local talent has made its way to prime time television once again with Madilyn Paige, a Timpview High student who made it onto Team Usher during the “The Voice’s” blind auditions in Tuesday night’s premiere.

The show sought out Paige after seeing her in this YouTube video in a vocal competition.

After performing a softer rendition of David Guetta’s “Titanium,” Usher and Shakira battled for the young female artist. In the end, Paige chose Usher as her coach.

“I’m hoping that  (Usher) will be able to open doors for me and I really do want him to be able to help me with my performance and my confidence on stage,” Paige said in an interview with “The Voice.” “I hope that he can help me reach my full potential.”

At this time last year, local artist Ryan Innes had a four-chair turn on “The Voice” where he too chose to be part of Team Usher.
