Teen to stand trial in cop killing
Meagan Grunwald, 17, will stand trial in the shooting death and shooting of two Utah County deputies in January. A judge made the ruling after hearing from witnesses and watching police dash cams during a preliminary hearing this week.
Grunwald was driving a truck during a police chase that stretched through Utah and Juab counties. Her passenger and boyfriend, 27-year-old Jose Angel Garcia-Jauregui, fired a gun out the truck window, killing Utah County Sheriff Cory Wride and injuring Deputy Greg Sherwood. They crashed and stopped in Juab County, where Garcia-Jauregui was shot by police. He later died at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
