To raise money for students in Spanish Fork, golfers are stepping up to the tee boxes. For 20 years the Spanish Fork Rotary Club and Spanish Fork Chamber of Commerce have given college scholarships through their annual golf tournament.
This year’s tournament, set for May 22 at 10 a.m., will host dozens of professional and amateur golfers and will raise $20,000 or more.
Sponsors have helped pay for college for students ranging from working teens to single mothers. Last year the tournament provided $1,000 scholarships to 20 students.
Golfers also win prizes both in the actual golf tournament and in a raffle.
“Rotary works a lot with the youth,” says chairperson Lana Dahl. “We do this to provide a place for these kids that have served in their community and have a need to be able to go to school.”
To register or sponsor the tournament, call (801) 798-8352. You can also register online at spanishforkchamber.com.
