Weekend best bets (June 13-15)


Home 27 in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes was built by Gray Hawk Construction.

It’s the weekend at last. Don’t get caught stuck on the couch when there are so many activities happening around Utah Valley.

1. Utah Valley Parade of Homes

Dare to dream with the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. Come explore 27 homes and get ideas for your own design and decoration. View a map of the homes participating and learn more about them here. The homes are open for visitors on Friday and Saturday from noon until 9 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

2. The Limitless Benefit Concert

A Utah Valley star-studded lineup will take the stage at Orem High School in a concert to benefit the Limitless Ride for Diabetes organization. Performers include Ryan Innes, Mimi Knowles, Kindred Dead and Brumby. There will also be a performance by the Urban Dance Organization. The show is Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $8.

3. “The Elixir of Love Opera”

It turns out that love potions really aren’t the solution to love, which is a tough lesson learned for Nemorino in the comedic opera, “The Elixir of Love.” Enjoy a cultural experience as the opera is sung in Italian by performers from BYU’s School of Music; there will be English subtitles. The show is Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the BYU de Jong Concert Hall. Tickets cost $10.

4. Orem Summerfest

It’s a festival of events in Orem this weekend with the annual Orem Summerfest. Participate in a carnival, walk through the car show, try new foods, shop the boutiques and more on Friday and Saturday. Click here for a schedule of events and locations.

5. Springville Art City Days

Watch hot air balloons fill the sky Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. with the Springville Art City Days. That isn’t all that is going on Friday and Saturday though: cute baby contests, boutiques, art shows, live entertainment and more will liven your weekend.
