Weekend best bets (Dec. 5-6)

From the Point of the Mountain all the way down to Santaquin, Utah Valley has a lot to offer — especially in weekend activities. There are no excuses for staying in all weekend when there are these quality events happening around Utah Valley. Here are five of our picks for the upcoming weekend:

1. Christmas Around the World

Take a trip around the world this holiday season without ever leaving your seat in BYU’s annual “Christmas Around the World” performance. View the world through the lens of a photographer with the theme “See the Wonder.”

When: Dec. 5–6 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

2. “The Forgotten Carols”

You know the “First Noel” and “Silent Night,” but you’ve never heard these Christmas carols before. Michael McLean introduces you to a whole set of new Christmas carols in his Utah Christmas classic, “The Forgotten Carols.”

When: Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

3. David Lanz

Platinum-selling and Grammy-nominated pianist and composer David Lanz is making his way to the Covey Center on Friday night for an evening of melodies.

4. Hope for Tomorrow Concert

In an effort to bring hope to the homeless in Utah Valley, the Food & Care Coalition is hosting a concert with pianist Lyle Hadlock. Plus, there will be a silent auction for hope chests.

When: Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

5. Run Santa

You’re used to the image of Santa Claus sliding down the chimney, leading his slay or even talking to children at the mall, but now is your chance to see him (or be him) running down the street in a 5K.

When: Dec. 6 from 4–7 p.m.
