7 things Sharla Graf wants you to know about Lindon

Twenty years ago, Sharla Graf and her family of six moved to Lindon to be at the base of Mount Timpanogos. They were ready to put down roots after a journey that started in Utah and then landed them on both coasts. Sharla and her husband, Dr. Brian Graf, were high school sweethearts in Cedar City and then moved to Portland, Ore., for dental school. Orthodontic residency took the Grafs to Rochester, N.Y. They came back to Lindon to raise their children — and they were A-OK when they each chose to attend either UVU or BYU — only minutes from their Lindon dining room where they love to gather.

“The Smoking Apple right on State Street is a little hole-in-the-wall barbecue place that our family loves.”

2. Sweet tooth

Pizza-Factory

“The Pizza Factory has my favorite dessert in town called ‘Never on Sundae,’ which is their classic chocolate chip cookie dough baked and served right from the oven with three scoops of vanilla ice cream covered in fudge, caramel and whipped cream.”

3. Treat yourself

Utah-College-of-Massage-Therapy

“The best place to get pampered in Lindon is the Utah College of Massage Therapy. It’s pretty famous nationwide and pumps out a lot of great students.”

4. Who runs this town?

“Everyone runs this town because there is so much volunteerism. Everyone allows new people and ideas to grow. Anyone is welcome in Lindon.”

5. City treasure

Timpanogos

“After traveling to the Alps, through Wyoming and to the highest peak in California, nothing beats Timpanogos. People know it’s beautiful but don’t realize just how beautiful it is. We chose to build our house at the base so we could look right out our window at it. We hike from door to door from our house in Lindon to our cabin over the mountain.”

6.  A little bit of country

Lindon

“Lindon is known in the county for its slogan ‘A little bit of country.’ Urbanization of Lindon hasn’t taken away the country feel because of the way they’ve zoned the city. The city has protected farmers and horsemen, which keeps the country feel here in Lindon.”

7. Most important meal of the day

Masa Feature

“Both Masa and Oteo serve organic, fresh breakfast. Each taco shop gives you a city feel while you’re starting your day off right.”
