From the Point of the Mountain all the way down to Santaquin, Utah Valley has a lot to offer — especially in weekend activities. There are no excuses for staying in all weekend when there are these quality events happening around Utah Valley. Here are five of our picks for the upcoming weekend:

1. Utah Lyric Opera: The Barber Of Seville

The popular opera buffa (comedy) with a new twist as a wild west re-interpretation will be the gut-busting humor you’re looking for. The opera will be sung in Italian, but there will be English subtitles.

When: Feb. 13–14 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Covey Center for the Arts
Cost: $12–$25
Site: provo.org

2. Midnight Kiss Valentine’s Bash

If you are 18 or older (and consider yourself in the college crowd), DJ PHAYA will be leading the Midnight Kiss Valentine’s Bash. Ladies are encouraged to wear dresses and men to “stay classy” for this mix of live performances, hip-hop music and a twist of oldies love songs.

When: Friday, Feb. 13 from 9:30 p.m.–Feb. 14 at 2 a.m.
Where: 4931 N. 300 West, Provo
Cost: $3–$5
Site: eventbrite.com

3. BRAVO! with Nathan and Julie Gunn

A popular baritone, Nathan Gunn will perform with his wife Julie Gunn. Nathan Gunn was most recently seen in New York as Danilo in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Franz Lehár’s “The Merry Widow.”

When: Friday, Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Madsen Recital Hall, BYU
Cost: $40 ($10 off with student ID/$3 off for senior citizens or BYU alumni)
Site: arts.byu.edu

4. “Twelfth Night”

Welcome to Shakespeare’s world of mistaken identities and timeless comedy — and, of course, a little love for Valentine’s Day.

When: Feb. 13–14 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Echo Theatre
Cost: $10
Site: theechotheatre.com

5. BYU Men’s Basketball

With only two more home games this basketball season, Cougar fans can’t afford to miss this Valentine’s night game against the Pacific Tigers. The last time the two teams met the Cougars beat the Tigers 93–80.

When: Saturday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
Where: Marriott Center, BYU
Cost: $8 and up
Site: byucougars.com
