Twitter reaction to Tyler Haws’ scoring record

Tyler Haws, as expected, passed Jimmer Fredette’s BYU all-time scoring record of 2,599 points on Thursday night against Portland. It came early in the contest aginst the Pilots. The scoring record has now been broken twice inside eight years.

Here’s what Twitter had to say.

Here’s Haws’ history making bucket, per BYU SportsNation’s Jarom Jordan:

Others were, with much reason, simply excastic.

In a way, Haws got #Jimmered with 8 points and a career mark of 2,601. And on Jimmer’s birthday…

BYU basketball released a tribute video to Haws shortly after he broke the record.

With the record behind him, sights are now set on Haws cracking the NCAA top 20 all-time in scoring. With Gonzaga left in the regular season, and the WCC tournament at the very least, it’s very possible the senior guard climbs the ranks.
