An eight-game winning streak, a win over Gonzaga to finish the regular season and a strong showing in the West Coast Conference Tournament put BYU over the edge.

Just a little bit over, though, as the Cougars earned a play-in game bid and will play Ole Miss as part of the First Four in Dayton Ohio on Tuesday for a right to play No. 6 Xavier in the West Regional in Jacksonville, Florida.

BYU won 8 of it’s final 9 games, battled hard in the WCC Tournament and lost to WCC foe Gonzaga in the conference tournament. It was the Cougars second consecutive conference championship loss in as many seasons.

The last time BYU was selected to play a play-in game was 2012, when they came from more than 20-points down to beat Iona. The Cougars last played Xavier in the tournament in 2007, losing 79–77.
