Can we be direct? Network marketing is here to stay.

It’s a popular topic around these parts, where downlines are the uptalk. In fact, Utah County has the highest concentration of direct sales companies in the nation, which gives our county a big piece of the $32 billion pie this industry creates in the United States.

Here are five figures calculated for network marketing.

$32.67 billion —Estimated total direct retail sales in the United States in 2013.

16.8 million — Number of people involved in direct selling in the U.S. in 2013 — a record high.

80 — Percentage of direct sellers who are women.

68 percent — Person-to-person selling methods account for nearly two-thirds of direct sales’ sales.

3.3 — Percentage growth of industry sales from 2012 to 2013.
