Provo — SGS and Associates, Inc., a local family owned company with over 50 years experience developing in Utah Valley, today announced the grand opening of its Aspen Summit community in southeast Provo, where the builder plans to construct 180 new townhomes.
Each new townhome is designed with lifestyle in mind. The community is conveniently located just a few minutes from Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. It’s close to major shopping, dining, top-ranked K–12 schools and offers easy access to I-15.
“Given the extraordinary history of this property,” says Stephen G. Stewart, president of SGS, “it gives us a great deal of pride to release our final community, Aspen Summit.”

In 1980, the property was not much more than a foreclosed sand and gravel pit that had become a public nuisance due to the concrete, rubble and steep grades. The city of Provo and Zions Bank approached Steve and his company and asked them, because of their excellent track record in hillside development, to purchase the property and propose a development plan. After several years working closely with neighboring communities and the city of Provo the land was purchased, cleaned up and eventually developed into a beautiful area including the communities of Canyon Meadow, Alpine Brook and now Aspen Summit.
“Each new townhome can be personalized to reflect individual homebuyer’s taste,” says Ray Dunbar, the project superintendent. “This beautiful new community offers attractively priced townhomes in an amazing foothill location with sweeping views of the mountains, valley, lake and easy access to all that Utah County has to offer including the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and the soon to be completed Slate Canyon Park and Trailhead.”
These new townhomes range in size from 2,209 to 2,548 square feet, with up to four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms and are priced from the mid $200,000s.
“Our goal,” says Matt Stewart, CFO of SGS Associates, “was not only to build compelling townhomes but to also engage as many local area subcontractors and manufacturers as possible during the design and building process.” Matt adds, “New homeowners will be proud of the fact that their investment is going back into boosting the local economy and job market for years to come.”
The model at Aspen Summit is now open, Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or anytime by appointment.
