The SCERA has released its schedule for the 2015–16 indoor season including musicals, young adult theatre, musical performances and other entertainment.
“Whenever we put together a season, we try very hard to find something that will create a nice variety for a season ticket holder and different groups,” said Adam Robertson, SCERA’s spokesman. “I really feel like this season, we’ve got something for everyone.”
Robertson says trying to pick which show he’s most excited for is like “picking your favorite child,” but he did highlight why a few performances made it on the schedule.
This year the SCERA will partner with UVU to bring back the musical, “Trail of Dreams,” which tells the journey of the LDS saints through the journal of Mormon pioneers.
During the Christmas holiday, the SCERA is mixing things up after performing the “First Christmas” for the past few years. Instead the SCERA will show “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Musical.”
The SCERA is excited to have two young audiences shows, which provide learning opportunities and include question and answer sessions. Those shows will be “James and the Giant Peach” in the fall and “Peter Pan’s Great Adventure” in the winter.
This year the SCERA will hold two events that have an opt-in dinner before the performance with the Heber Valley Cowboy Roundup and Valentine’s Day show with Gold Standard.
“Saturday’s Warrior” seems to be the show people are talking the most about, according to Robertson.
“We’ve been working with the owners and the creators of the original show,” Robertson said. “So we are working on combining the best of the original and 25th anniversary script.”
Robertson says the SCERA has been working on “Saturday’s Warrior” since before the announcement about the motion picture production being released in 2016.
