UVU head basketball coach Mark Pope had a unique way of getting UVU basketball fans pumped up — a lip sync battle.

The lip sync, which was more like a dance routine, was to the song “Classic” by MKTO and was part of Midnight Madness Thursday night. Both the women’s and men’s basketball teams at UVU greeted fans, had a three point competition and participated in the lip sync battle.

Pope competed with his four daughters.

“We have a long way to go and a lot to do to get there,” Pope told the students. “I will look forward to seeing all you guys on that day and all the good and bad days that come in between, so we can celebrate because you guys were here on the first day.”

Look for a feature story on Mark Pope in the Nov./Dec. issue of Utah Valley Magazine coming out next month.
