Santa Claus is coming to town and he’s making his first appearance at University Mall on Black Friday — and he’ll be flying in style.

Instead of Rudolph and friends leading Santa’s sleigh, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will land in University Mall’s parking lot via the KSL Channel 5 helicopter.

After greeting the crowd, the National Guard will escort him into the mall. And in true Santa fashion, there will be free hot cocoa and treats. Join the 20+ year tradition by greeting Santa at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, in the southwest corner of the mall’s parking lot.

If you can’t make it on Friday, don’t panic. University Mall has multiple holiday events throughout December to keep your season “merry and bright.”

Santa’s Village

When: Nov. 27 – Dec. 19 (10 a.m.–9 p.m.), Dec. 21–23 (10 a.m.–10 p.m.), Dec. 24 (9 a.m.–6 p.m.)
Hours: Vary
Where: Santa’s Village
Cost: FREE to visit Santa. Pictures are optional if you want to buy them.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to Old Saint Nick. Bring the kids to tell Santa Claus their Christmas wish list.

Storytelling Time

When: Dec. 1, 3 and 7
Hours: 6 p.m.
Where: In a vacant space next to Maurices
Cost: $6 per child (3+)

If a quick visit with Santa Claus seems impersonal to you and your little ones, come to Santa’s Storytelling Time for a more intimate meeting with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Children can come all nestled in their warm PJs to hear stories from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Each child gets a children’s meal from Chick-fil-A, free picture with Santa, crafts and commemorative book.

You MUST pre-purchase tickets at the Customer Service desk in the mall. Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 23.

The Giving Tree

When: Nov. 27–Dec. 14 from 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
Where: Next to H&M

As it is the season of giving, University Mall along with United Way of Utah County’s Sub for Santa have a giving tree set up next to H&M. People can check out an ornament, which represents an individual in the community, and shop for them. Make sure to return the unwrapped gifts before Dec. 14 so that the gifts can make it to the recipients by Christmas.

Holiday Talent Showcase

When: Dec. 7–18 (Monday-Friday)
Hours: 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
Where: West side of the mall next to Macy’s
Cost: FREE

Haul in the talent as local performers and groups entertain mall shoppers. All performances will be on the west side of the mall next to Macy’s. If you have a group that would like to perform, call (801) 224-0810 for more details and to book a performance.
