Vivint Smart Home, Provo
BORN: Portland, Ore.
TITLE: Chief marketing officer
Jeff Lyman just does it. After a decade at Nike, Inc., leading the digital and marketplace communications for NIKEiD, he jogged on over to our neck of the woods to head up marketing for Vivint, a company that did a pretty $625 million in 2015.
The YELLOW Talking “I’m positive, approachable and supportive. I really like winning, and I like encouraging my employees to expand their comfort zone and seeing them succeed.”
Favorite Accomplishment “Securing the naming rights for the Vivint Smart Home Arena. I know how much that property and the Utah Jazz means to this community, and it’s been an honor to partner with them.”
First Job “I was an early entrepreneur. In the sixth grade, I rented out my WWF wrestling magazines to classmates for 50 cents a week.”
Favorite Personality To Work With “People who are easy to read, since candor in relationships is typically more productive. I struggle with poker faces.”
Key To Success “I learned early on to focus on what I want to do, not what I want to be. Passion eventually turns into obsession and then innovation. The world’s problems are solved by people who are obsessed with finding solutions. ”
