Utah-Tube: Lindsey Stirling gets wild with song she co-wrote for ‘Pete’s Dragon’

When Disney comes knocking on your door, you know you’ve made it. And it’s finally happened for pop violinist Lindsey Stirling.

In her latest music video, Stirling takes viewers on a wild adventure in search of “Pete’s Dragon.”

Stirling worked with singer Andrew McMahon after Disney contacted her and asked her to write a song for the live-action “Pete’s Dragon,” coming to theaters Aug. 12, Stirling announced during a live Facebook session. “Something Wild,” the song written for Disney, will play during the end credits.

Stirling, a classically trained violinist from Gilbert, Arizona, earned her way to fame through her YouTube channel. The BYU graduate has a unique style of music that blends pop and violin — and it is all accomplished while she dances.

Stirling will release her third album, “Brave Enough,” on Aug. 19. You can pre-order the album on iTunes.

Interesting. I’d come across this video earlier and thought, “This is my favorite Lindsey Stirling song,” not realizing she co-wrote it or any of its backstory. Thanks for letting us know.
