Utah-Tube: Jamesthemormon’s BYU football anthem features famous BYU faces


Jamesthemormon has once again written an anthem for the BYU football team.

This year’s anthem, “Tellin You Y,” involved more than the BYU football team, like the 2015 anthem. The BYU Cougarettes, BYU cheerleaders, BYU football fans and many BYU sports celebrities made brief cameos in the music video. Some of the famous faces include:

Ziggy Ansah and Kyle Van Noy


Both played football at BYU and now play in the NFL for the Detroit Lions.

Danny Ainge


The BYU basketball legend went on to play in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns.

Chad Lewis


Lewis played football for BYU in college before playing in the NFL; he played for the Philadephia Eagles and St. Louis Rams. He is currently an associate AD in development at BYU.

Tom Holmoe


The BYU athletic director played football for BYU from 1978–82 before playing in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers.

Ty Detmer


The Heisman Trophy winner played in the NFL from 1992–2005. He is the new BYU football offensive coordinator.

Austin Collie


This BYU football alumnus played in the NFL from 2009–13 before spending a year in the Canadian Football League.

Jeremy Guthrie

Representing BYU baseball, Guthrie has played Major League Baseball since 2004.

Cosmo the Cougar


BYU’s mascot.

Jamesthemormon, a Provo resident, had his album, “I’m Not a Rapper,” hit No. 1 on the Top Hip-Hop/Rap Album chart in April. He has teamed up with other singers, such as David Archuleta, for different songs he writes to inspire people.
