From the Point of the Mountain all the way down to Santaquin, Utah Valley has a lot to offer — especially in weekend activities. There are no excuses for staying in all weekend when there are these quality events happening around Utah Valley. Here are five of our picks (plus a bonus event) for the upcoming weekend:

Christmas Around the World

BYU gifts the community a 90-minute trip around the world to celebrate the holiday season. With dances from Italy, Ukraine, Scotland, China and more, the BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble spins and kicks its way across the map (and across the Marriott Center floor). In addition to the traditional performance, a new Pre-show Festival provides a literal taste of ethnic foods as well as a taste of international games such as Chinese yo-yo, an hour prior to the show.

When: Dec. 2–3 at 7:30 p.m. with Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

Provo Santa Run

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus right down the Provo River Trail. Don ye now your Santa apparel and prepare to race the reindeer, or other Santas, in the annual holiday race. Run, run, Santa!

When: Dec. 3 at 4 p.m.
Where: Shops at the Riverwoods

Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand

Ring in the holiday with Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand, and maybe a banjo. Deck the halls, welcome Jack Frost and get in the spirit of Christmas with this annual concert at the Covey Center.

Beehive Bazaar

Keep the holiday shopping in the family, the Utah Valley family that is, with the Beehive Bazaar. Local crafters sell their handmade goods at the Startup Building to help you finish your Christmas shopping list early.

When: Dec. 2–3
Friday: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

North Pole Express

All aboard! Ride the Heber Valley Railroad’s North Pole Express for your own little “Polar Express” experience. Warm up with hot cocoa and Mrs. Claus’ famous chocolate chip cookies on this 90-minute excursion. Elves will serve hot cocoa while Santa asks the children what they want for Christmas. The train leaves the station on Friday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

BONUS: Selfies with Santa

Put in a word with the Big Man and snap a selfie while you’re at it at EDGEhomes’ Santa event. Before you leave, make sure to grab hot chocolate (with a free mug) and donuts for the road.
