The countdown is here. With less than two months until the release of Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” Disney released its final trailer on Monday night.
The first trailer, which was released in May 2016, gave a tour of Beast’s castle and a brief glance of Belle, played by Emma Watson. In the newest trailer, Disney outlines the “tale old as time” and introduces the star-studded cast
The star-studded cast includes Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Luke Evans as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Josh Gad as Le Fou and many more. Audra McDonald — who performed at Hale Center Theater Orem in 2010 and was on the cover of Utah Valley Magazine — is Garderobe, the magical wardrobe.
Over the past decade, Disney has been remaking some of their classic picture films into live-action movies including “Alice in Wonderland,” “Maleficent” and “Cinderella.” “The Jungle Book” is the most recent live-action release. Because of the success of these films, Disney has announced multiple live-action movies including “Cruella,” “Maleficent 2” and “Tinker Bell.”
The live-action “Beauty and the Beast” will be released in theaters on March 17, 2017, which is the same day as BYU’s new one-day Spring Break.
