The office building on the north side is done, connector road complete and the indoor/outdoor playground is finished. So what else could be happening at University Place? Answer: a lot.
Cindy Nguyen, marketing director for University Place, said they’re focused on shop, dine, play — new stores, more dining and places to play.
Restaurants
This spring, Tucanos Brazilian Grill will open on the first floor of the north office building.
“They’re building it out right now,” Nguyen said. “That will be a great addition to our University Place property.” She also said she’s heard it will have a water feature inside the restaurant.
MidiCi, a pizza restaurant with locations across the country, will open in the new space built on the south side of Macy’s. It will be the first Utah location for the Neapolitan pizza place, which focuses on non-GMO ingredients. There also will be more space in the new building for more retail.
Tepanyaki is opening in the space that used to be Good Wood Barbecue. It doesn’t have an opening date set yet, she said.
Swig opens in March inside the mall, next to the new play area.
Events
Winter can be hard in Utah Valley. It’s cold. And the air quality dwindles. So from now through mid-May, University Place has a workshop for toddlers and preschoolers every Monday at 11 a.m., called Learn & Play. The events involve books, music, activities and sometimes treats. More information here
And speaking of the playground, it’s been getting new features since it opened late last year.
“When we did the grand opening it wasn’t 100 percent,” Nguyen said. “We’re always adding more fun things. Parents have loved it.”
When it warms up outside, the mall will open the garage doors separating the indoor and outdoor play areas. That way kids will be able to play inside and out, but still within a safe fenced area.
