Spring is in full swing at Gatehouse No. 1, with florals and spring scents blooming in every corner of the showroom. Gatehouse No. 1 owner Stephanie Holdaway and her designers share ways to brighten up your home this season.

1. Green is the New Black

The professionals at Gatehouse No. 1 love Pantone’s selection, “Greenery,”  for the 2017 Color of the Year. Whether it’s a dramatic emerald wall, a chartreuse pillow or an understated green neutral pallette, there can’t be enough of this earthy hue.

“Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Stephanie and her designers especially love using the color in plants, trees and other foliage, which bring life into every space.

2. Curated Coffee Tables

Let the coffee table take center stage. Whether round or square, glass, marble, wood or an upholstered ottoman, it is time to dress tables up in style. Show off a collection of curated finds that reflect personal style. Use trays and boxes to contain smaller items and stack large picture books, florals and other items.

“Books are my go-to for coffee tables,” says Rachel Folkman, a designer at Gatehouse No. 1. “They fill in space and can create height. Most of all, they are gorgeous and functional.”

3. Luxury Fabrics

It’s all about the finer things in life.

Give any room a touch of luxury with rich fabrics. Consider velvets, nubby linens and layered textures in neutral tones or bold, deep hues.

“Mixing different textures adds depth, fullness and sophistication to a home,” Stephanie says. “The key is to layer a variety of textures to create a luxurious vibe. Try a velvet sofa with a contemporary box weave pillow and a faux fur throw to complete the look.”

4. Get the Vision

Gatehouse No.1 has a 10,000-square-foot showroom that includes vignettes complete with the most on-trend furniture, accessories, and color schemes to help customers envision their dream room.

The design center also has fabrics, finishes, and a team of talented Gatehouse designers ready to make each dream room a reality.

When it comes to coffee tables, it can sometimes seem like too much space to fill. Bite off a little at a time by dividing the table into sections or a grid. In each part of the grid add a different element — a vase with greens in one, a stack of books and a candle in another. Large trays and pretty boxes are perfect for collecting items and stowing them away for a quickly cleared space to prop feet, or use trays on top of an ottoman for a great place to set a drink.
