Summer is finally here and there is no turning back. We’ve tackled spring’s rain (and snow) showers, but now we are ready for nothing but fun in the sun. Utah Valley pulls out all the stops to create a fun summer full of events — whether its a musical performance, sporting event or a random affair — and you shouldn’t miss it. Here are five weekend best bets to fill your summer nights.

Special Olympics Utah Block Party

Come celebrate the Special Olympics Utah Summer Games with University Place. Around 1,300 athletes will be competing in the games this year, so come kick off the games with the arrival of the Flame of Hope presented by athletes, representatives from Orem city and other law enforcement agencies. After the arrival of the Flame of Hope there will be the lighting of the cauldron, Knights of Columbus Color Guard and a presentation of awards. Attendees can then continue celebrating with games, music and a “Victory Dance” after the ceremony.
