One Utah-Tuber has found a new use for the popular toy amongst both children and adults — making music. Violinist Rob Landes switched out his bow for a fidget spinner to perform Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” in his newest YouTube video.

Fidget spinners — a popular toy spun between the fingers — are the modern adaptation of a top spinner.

Originally from Orem, Utah, Landes currently lives in Salt Lake City where he uses a looper pedal and an amp to create violin arrangements of modern songs for his YouTube channel.

Landes has performed solos with local orchestras throughout his youth and college career in Utah including the Utah Symphony, Utah Valley Symphony, BYU Philharmonic and BYU Chamber Orchestra. He earned a Bachelor of Music at Brigham Young University and went on to earn his Master in Music at Rice University.
