With her granddaughters in mind, Terry Marchbanks organized a princess party for Pleasant Grove’s Strawberry Days six years ago.

“We wanted something on Thursday afternoon,” Marchbanks said.

That Thursday has turned into an annual Strawberry Days event for the past six years where girls ages 3-11 can be a princess for two hours. This year’s princess party is on June 15 and has two sessions (10 a.m. – noon and 12:30–2:30 p.m.).

And these little princesses will experience the full royal treatment.

Miss Pleasant Grove and her three attendants will host a talent show as entertainment. Then these young royals will use their dainty manners at a luncheon provided for party guests. At the party, they can make a princess wand, paint their nails, decorate a picture frame and learn how to walk and wave like a princess. Each princess attending will also be officially crowned and have her picture taken on the Pleasant Grove float with Miss Pleasant Grove.

Some girls love the princess party so much, they attend every year until they exceed the age limit, Marchbanks says. Then they return as volunteer ladies in waiting.

The Pleasant Grove Royalty and the five Little Miss Strawberry Days girls will also grace the event with their presence. Little Miss Strawberry Days is Pleasant Grove’s royalty for elementary age girls. To gain their crowns, these little patriots won an essay competition on the festival’s theme: “Land of the free…because of the brave.”

“They are so stinkin’ cute!” Marchbanks said.

Party guests are invited to dress up in princess attire for the event. “I just love all the little girls,” says Marchbanks. “That’s my favorite thing.”

They have 50 spaces available between the two sessions, so registration is best online before the event. Cost per child is $20.
