Weekend best bets: 5 Utah Valley weekend events

Summer is slipping away, but summer events are still in full swing. While you are winding down and getting ready to go back to school, hold on to your summer weekends in August with these Utah Valley events.

“Pillow Talk”

Brad Allen and Jan Morrow are taking on the Hale Center Theater stage. Watch as two neighbors meddle in each other’s lives. This romantic comedy will have you laughing all the way home. Ditch your pillow at home for “Pillow Talk.”

Twilight Dancing: Bachata

What is better than a free date night? University Place will be hosting another fabulous Twilight Dance Series night featuring Bachata. There will be one hour of free dance instruction, followed by a dance party with a live band. Put on your dancing shoes, grab a friend or a date and boogie on over to University Place.

BYU Summer Dancesport Challenge

If you aren’t up for dancing yourself, settle into the Wilkinson Center Ballroom at BYU to watch the Summer Dancesport Challenge. There will be all sorts of dance styles to watch and spring and summer term classes will get to compete in their class events. Dancesport will also feature a “Special Olympics” event where BYU students will pair with special needs dancers.

Nightlife: Star Party

This party is shining brighter than the stars. The Utah Valley Astronomy Club will be at the Ashton Gardens to help attendees discover constellations and even learn about the solar eclipse. Enjoy your night out under the stars learning and having a night that’s out of this world.

Rockin the Runway

Come and rock out with local school-age bands that are competing in a battle of the bands at the Outlets at Traverse Mountain. Mountain America Credit Union is sponsoring a “Rock the Runway” battle that is a mashup of both music and fashion. Watch local students use their talent in unique ways this weekend.
