Moviegoers beware. Cinemark announced earlier this week it would start restricting what size of bag customers can bring into the theater.

Beginning on Thursday, Feb. 22, the new policy will ban bags larger than 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches. However, Cinemark exempts bags carrying medical equipment and diaper bags from the new rule.

With the new policy, the company says it will not provide an area to check bags or personal belongings too large to bring into the theater. Cinemark also forewarned that it will reserve the right to inspect all bags entering the theaters.

According to Cinemark’s website, the decision was made “in an effort to enhance the safety and security of our guests and employees.”

Cinemark has four locations in Utah County: American Fork, Orem, Provo and Spanish Fork.
