The Journey When Addie’s father got deployed to Afghanistan, she was worried about her dad’s safety. To help distract her, Addie’s mom signed her up for a cake decorating class when she was 10 and accidentally found Addie’s passion! The next year she attended her aunt’s wedding in North Carolina, and the pastry chef at the country club saw pictures of Addie’s cakes and invited her to help him decorate the wedding cake and other pastries.

Mile Markers “The biggest rewards are the smiles I see on my friends’ faces when I bake cupcakes and cookies for them or surprise a neighbor who is not feeling well with a plate of cookies. I really like making people happy.”

Road Blocks “After moving back and adjusting to life in Utah, my dad was deployed to Afghanistan. To make matters even worse, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer while he was deployed. Her treatments of chemo and radiation scared me.”

Vacation Destination “My dad is from South Carolina and we go to Hilton Head Island every year as a family. I like playing at the beach, building sandcastles, and pretending I have a pastry shop that I built out of sand with my dad.”
