Orem

The Journey During her childhood, Karli became a quadriplegic when she was 12 due to a sudden medical condition. Doctors told her there was a chance she would never walk again. In her adult life, Karli has been divorced twice and endured hardships, leaving her a single mother of five. As the events coordinator for the Sunshine Heroes Foundation, Karli uses her past challenges to help her relate to people. “Somehow I’ve been able to rise above, and because of my circumstances I can go into situations and love others,” Karli says.

Mile Markers “The most rewarding part is getting to travel to the Sunshine centers around the world. I make sure the facilities are being maintained, and I meet people of different cultures, societies and walks of life.”

Must-Haves “I have a coin that I have carried around with me ever since I was little. It reminds me that luck has nothing to do with it. Everything is hard work.”

Local Destination “Sodalicious in Orem. It’s my jam. I am their No. 1 customer.”
