It’s the beginning of a new month. As we all patiently wait for warmer weather to make its way to the Utah Valley, here are some local events to help you endure the roller coaster weather.

Rex Lee Run For a Cure

Lace up your shoes for a cause this weekend. Though originally organized in 1990, the race took a hiatus until it was resurrected in 1996 to honor BYU President Rex E. Lee who passed away from cancer. With warm weather in the forecast, there’s never been a better time to run for a cause.

When: March 10 at 9 a.m.
Where: BYU Track
Cost: $25 for 5K; $30 for 10K; $10 Sunshine Heroes Fun Run

Utah’s Biggest Liars Contest

Weaving a web of tangled lies, you won’t be able to help but believe these tall tales. The Timpanogos Storytelling Institute and Orem Public Library holds the first round of the competition at the Orem Public Library. Can you spot the lies?

When: March 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Orem Public Library

The Big Outdoors Expo

Calling all mountain men and women. The 4th Annual Big Outdoors Expo is taking a ironic stop indoors to help you know how you can better enjoy the outdoors.

When: March 9-10
Where: UCCU Center
Cost: $10 for weekend show pass

“Barefoot in the Park”

This comedic 1960s play follows Corie and Paul Bratter, an ill-suited newly wed couple. The two live on the (deep breath) fifth floor of a run-down NYC apartment building. As a handful of colorful characters visit this opposites-attract couple’s home, shenanigans ensue.

When: Feb. 22 – March 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Covey Center for the Arts
Cost: $14–$16
Site: provo.org

“Peter Pan” by Utah Metropolitan Ballet

The Utah Metropolitan Ballet will help you never grow up this weekend. Escape to Neverland en pointe with Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and the Lost Boys in this ballet version of the classic story.

Where: Covey Center for the Arts
Cost: $20-$28
