



Population estimates say that more than 250,000 children under 5 are living in Utah County. That’s a quarter of a million kids who aren’t yet in school and who love to play. If you have one or two (or more!) of these children living in your house, check out some of these fun parent/toddler classes in Utah County.
1. Van Gogh to Play Doh: Art for Toddlers
Hosted by: BYU Museum of Art
For: Children ages 2-4 and their caregivers
When: Tuesdays/Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. Registration required.
What to expect: Participants sing, play and create together while exploring art.
Cost: FREE

Registration for the class opens at 10 a.m. on the third Monday of every other month. When you register, you will choose from classes held over the following two months. You should register for only one date since the same program is repeated every class day for two months.

2. Thanksgiving Point family programs
Hosted by: Thanksgiving Point
For: Children and parents of all ages and abilities
When: Varies
What to expect: Activities include ‘Tales for Tots,’ ‘Monday Night Activities’ and ‘Design Challenge,’ among others.
Cost: Free with Thanksgiving Point membership; otherwise, the cost of admission to the venue.

Thanksgiving Point family programs change often, so even if there’s a class you like, you should check to make sure you’re going to the right place. All programs are led by a member of Thanksgiving Point’s trained educational team.
3. The Yoga Underground parent/toddler class
Hosted by: The Yoga Underground
For: Children ages 0-5 and their caregivers
When: Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
What to expect: Participants play games, participate in partner and group activities, dance, learn breathing exercises, practice yoga sequences and more.
Cost: Free for members and one child; $10 for non-members and one child); $5 for each additional child.

4. Harmons Grocery cooking class at Traverse Mountain
Hosted by: Harmons Grocery
For: Ages vary; up to teenagers
When: As scheduled
What to expect: Kids learn cooking skills from Harmons chefs.
Cost: $25-$50 depending on class

Check the website for a complete list of classes and availability. New classes are added frequently. Cooking classes are offered at Traverse Mountain and several Salt Lake and Davis County locations.
5. Parent/tot swimming lessons
Most local recreation centers offer parent/toddler swimming lessons as part of their regular lesson schedule. Check the Provo Rec Center schedule here and the Lehi schedule here. Check local recreation center schedules for the class nearest you.
