Sugar, sugar Keri Lostetter hails from Mississippi — and Utah is reaping the delicious rewards. When she was 18, she started as a waitress at Magleby’s Grill (an iconic Utah Valley institution). At 20, she was the front house manager. And at 23, she spearheaded Magleby’s Catering. The department — under Lostetter’s direction — has grown exponentially in both weddings and corporate events. And the just desserts? Magleby’s has repeatedly garnered votes for “best caterer” in Utah Valley by our sister pub, Utah Valley Magazine.

Childhood Vision “Believe it or not, a Xan’s Diner Waitress! And I fulfilled that dream when I got the job at age 16. It’s a cute little ’50s diner in Mississippi, and my name was Sugar.”

Growing Up “I was a total Tom Boy who loved to play in the mud and find all kind of animals in the backwoods of Mississippi.”

School Of Thought “I was super social and played sports: softball, basketball and volleyball. I usually got all As and Bs with an occasional C — usually in history.”

Eye On The Prize “I am proud of the relationships I’ve made. I have some clients who have been with us since I served them as a waitress 13 years ago, and now I am planning their large galas! I’m proud they trust me with the biggest days of their lives.”

A Visionary Is “Someone who sees the trends and changes before they happen.”

Out Of Sight! “Skydiving twice — and one of those times I was 3 months pregnant! Ha! My husband was scared to death!”

Ultimate Vision “Truly, I love creating. I have the freedom to create all kinds of events both large and small. Magleby’s gives me the vehicle to do that. If we continue on the same path, the next few years will be a whole heck of a lot of fun!”
