Youniquely Qualified After graduating Summa Cum Laude from BYU-Idaho and receiving an MPA from BYU, Matthew Hartvigsen spent five years at Deseret News and Deseret Digital Media. Two years ago, he joined The Younique Foundation, a non-profit organization that inspires hope and healing in women who were sexually abused as adolescents. “I love my job and the foundation I get to work for,” he says. “I’m endlessly inspired by our mission.”
Childhood Vision “A pediatrician.”
Growing Up “I hear two common stories from when I was a kid: 1) I used to throw and break everything. 2) I would wander all over the neighborhood looking for fun things to do. I think it stressed my mom out always having to hunt me down.”
School of Thought “I loved school. I remember having a hard time picking a major and elective classes because everything was interesting. I wanted to do it all.”
Clearing The Mind “Wrestling with my kids and pounding the pavement on a run.”
Eye On The Prize “I’m proud of the team we’re building at The Younique Foundation and the united goal we have to heal the one and protect the many from child sexual abuse. Our team is talented, and we are creating resources that are protecting children and helping adult survivors heal from child sexual abuse. I feel a sense of accomplishment every day.”
A Visionary Is “Giving people solutions before they know they have a need.”
Out Of Sight! “Hands down, having a family! Crazy could be spelled ‘kids,’ but it also has the coolest moments.”
Ultimate Vision “Being the executive director of a foundation I feel a strong affinity for.”
