Dr. Jessica Hunn recently joined Valley Women’s Health, improving the convenience and quality of care offered to women in Utah County with gynecologic cancer.
Originally from Seattle, Dr. Hunn moved to Utah for college. She wanted to be a doctor from the time she was a little girl and earned her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Utah. Following a fellowship at the University of Chicago Hospital in Illinois, she returned to Utah to practice.
As a gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Hunn takes care of patients with ovarian, uterine, cervical and vulvar cancers. She performs surgery to remove cancer and then works with other oncologists to plan and coordinate chemotherapy or radiation, if needed.

While she loves surgery, it’s building long-term relationships with patients that provides the most joy and satisfaction in her work.
“I fell in love with gynecology oncology because of the relationships I get to have with my patients. I follow them forever — through survivorship, cure and reoccurrences,” she says. “There is such a strong bond that develops when going through a cancer journey.”
While the road to becoming a physician and a specialist was long and hard, Dr. Hunn is grateful every day for the path she took. She knows it is her calling and works to become the best physician she can.
In addition to providing quality medical care, Dr. Hunn loves to travel and spend time outdoors. She and her husband recently started an apple orchard in Wayne County, Utah, to grow cider apples.
Her advice to women is to regularly see the gynecologist for routine health maintenance — and if there is ever anything out of the ordinary like bleeding after menopause, new pain or other symptoms, make an appointment to see your doctor.
