After Ariana and her best friend, Joy, started learning basic photography, they did a human photo shoot and it was … meh. Then they did a photo shoot with a horse, and they realized they were fanatic about furry photos. Ariana now co-runs Pawz Pet Photography with Joy. The animal lovers donate profits to a charity to spay and neuter stray animals in Puerto Rico — even when Ariana’s mom suggests they save some for college. While in Florida last December, Ariana photographed the pet of an executive from State Farm Insurance. He invited her back this spring to photograph his clients’ pets for a fundraiser.
Super Strength “When I set my mind to something, I know I can do it. Though I know I can do anything, I tend to take on too many things at a time.” Heroic “It’s cliche, but definitely my mom. She has been an entrepreneur my whole life. She started a modest clothing company (Mikarose) when I was little, and she has taught me dedication and hard work.”
Save the Day “We had a math test and everyone was sad, but I brought cupcakes for the class and the teacher. Needless to say, we didn’t have a test that day.”
Desired Super Power “To communicate with animals. I could find out why they do things or send them out to find out things. Being able to talk to animals would have multiple advantages. In my case, being able to have them pose!”
Sidekick “My best friend, Joy. When she was being born, my mom found out she was pregnant with me. Joy and I joke about being twins and blood-sisters.”
Secret Identity “My more daring side. I like to do a lot of crazy stuff like jumping horses without a saddle. I guess you could call me an adrenaline junkie.”
