A woman with many balls in the air, Divinia Smith is an athlete, dancer, journalist and academic standout. However, her most helpful interest may be medicine. Divinia plans to become an ICU nurse, giving her the chance to help thousands of families. Point, Divinia!

Mini-resume Captain of dance and volleyball teams, yearbook editor, National Honor Society, Salutatorian.

Plans after high school SLCC and then the University of Utah to become a registered nurse and work in the NICU.

Personal motto Never be afraid of getting dirty. It will wash off.

Advice for freshmen Never give up, even when things get hard. It will be worth it in the end.

High school happiness Don’t care what other people think. Just be yourself.

Guilty pleasure I love to read. Plus, ice cream is the best thing ever invented.

Most common thing parents say to you Remember who you are and what you stand for.

Challenges My 10th and 11th grade years, I had severe depression. It wasn’t until I found myself and what made me happy and stopped caring what other people thought of me that I overcame that struggle.

Biggest pressure I worry I will not be the example I need to be for my siblings.

Divinia, how will you change the world? Attitude is contagious. Being kind and positive can brighten someone’s day. They can then pass that on to others. This chain reaction would change the world.
