Pioneer Children Played as They Walked
Contrary to popular belief, it’s not necessary to go all the way up to Salt Lake to celebrate Pioneer Day. Provo hosts a Pioneer Day Extravaganza at North Park from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. filled with pie eating contests, panning for gold, live entertainment, rides, competitions, games, crafts and even a visit to The Pioneer Village — all free of charge!
The Edge of the Rooftop
July 5, Aug. 2, and Sept. 6.
The Rooftop Concert series is in its 10th and final season. On the first Friday of every month from June to September, local bands perform outside the Nu Skin building on Center Street in Downtown Provo. The concert is free, so make sure to get there early as it is a first-come, first-standing-by-the-stage type of concert.
Here We Go Again!
July 18-Aug. 10
Sundance Summer Theatre, in partnership with UVU, brings the valley another incredible show this summer: “MAMMA MIA!” It’s the perfect girls’ night out, family outing or date night. This event runs every Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Eccles Stage Outdoor Amphitheater. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the production starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $26- $40.
This Little Farmer Went to Market
Utah summers are incomplete without a trip to the Farmer’s Market. Provo’s Farmers Market moved locations this year due to construction. The market will now be held on Provo Center Street across from the Nu Skin building. Booths of fresh fruit, fresh cut flowers, local paintings, and jewelry will fill Downtown Provo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from June until October.
Oh, What Do You Watch in the Summertime
Summertime means free movies in the park and lots of cotton candy. A handful of cities in Utah Valley host free movies in the park. Shows start at dusk so make sure to bring a blanket, snacks and get there early to snag a good lawn seat.
