Like all seniors in 2020, finishing high school online has been a major adjustment for Brendan — emotionally and socially. However, Brendan found another level of appreciation for the social part of school … and life. Now he will take his love for the little things with him to his next adventure.

Future plans BYU for a semester, then serve a mission.

Motto “Keep calm and carry on.”

Guilty pleasure Ginger ale.

Common parental phrase “No soccer in the house!”

Change the world I will promote understanding to alleviate suffering in my community and in the world.

High school memories Being on the soccer team has been one of the best experiences of my life. Going through the highs and lows of three-and-a-half seasons helped me to become close to my teammates while learning resilience.

School spirit The small size of the school means I know most of the people. I love the opportunity small classes give me to form meaningful relationships with my classmates and teachers.

Best advice Rub some dirt on it.

Stress management I exercise to relieve stress. I like to play soccer, golf, hike, ski or almost anything else outdoors.

Favorite subject My favorite subjects are English and history. At Maeser, these classes are combined into a two-period class called Socratic Seminar. My mom is an English professor and my dad is a curator, so I was raised to enjoy these two subjects. I especially love trying to understand historical and modern social movements through studies of literature.
