40 Under 40: Hayley Barry

“When I’m wearing overalls, I’m ready for literally anything.”

Type Affiliated • Founder • Provo • Age 22

For Hayley Barry, the writing is on the wall. Barely over two decades old, this lettering artist has transformed her creative mind into wall-to-wall success. She’s worked with clients all over Utah and across the United States creating unforgettable lettering work, illustrations, and murals. Plus, she can do — and teach. Barry instructs a hand-lettering class at UVU (where she just graduated this Spring), and hosts popular online classes and workshops, including Creative Collaborative — a non-profit speaker series. Talk the talk, chalk the chalk.

CHILDHOOD DREAM “I always knew I wanted to be an artist.”

DREAM MOMENT “I painted a mural at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Florida, for one of the teachers directly affected by the school shooting. Amazing experience.”

ULTIMATE DREAM “Turn Type Affiliated into a full-blown design agency that offers design, video, printing, and business strategy services.”
