40 Under 40: Zach Atherton

“I want to help Provo become the clean comedy capitol of the world.”

ImprovBroadway • Owner • Provo • Age 30

Ready for some funny business? Zach Atherton founded ImprovBroadway in 2014, Utah’s only comedy school — and one that boasts 150+ alumni. When they’re not living the Covid life, ImprovBroadway produces 400+ family-friendly comedy shows a year. And talk about art imitating life: During Covid, ImprovBroadway raised $20k in a Kickstarter campaign to produce a movie musical about the struggles of comedians during quarantine. Atherton earned a Juris Doctorate and Master’s of Public Administration from BYU, and when he’s not on stage, he’s behind the scenes as a writer at the viral ad agency, The Harmon Brothers.
