Some people are born to inspire the next generation. As the vice chair on the Utah State Board of Education, Cindy Davis firmly believes “education lights lives and open doors.” Cindy knows the impact each mentor in education can have and has practiced it during her time as a teacher, principal, district administrator and current UVU adviser. A maternal figure to many students, Cindy also has three children of her own.
Carnival Craving “Cinnamon sugar pecans are like students — spicy, sweet and nutty, and I love them all!”
Rickety Ride “My dad died when I was young. I was also a single mom for several years. These difficult experiences give me empathy for students. I remind them to keep showing up to life, even when it’s hard. I know that brighter days will come.”
Merry-Go-Round Moment “I would love to re-live the days when I saw each of my children for the first time.”
Top of the Ferris Wheel “The best moment for me was meeting the love of my life.”
Theme Park “My personal theme park would be Tomorrow Town because what we invest time in today determines the quality of our tomorrows.”
On Stilts “My mother, of course. Our mothers are our first teachers.”
Sweet Suggestions “It takes as much energy to be kind as it does to be cranky. Choose kindness.”
Grand Prize “I can’t live without my slippers.”
Kettle Korn Quirk “I brush my teeth about five times a day. I love clean teeth.”
Firework Finish “Faith, family, friends and serving to improve the future. That is my focus today — it will be five years from now and always.”
