Mountain Point Medical Center | Marketing
Coordinator + Physician Liaison | Lehi | AGE 33
Katie Poecker has always been drawn to the medical world. In high school, she was determined to be a physician’s assistant. At 19, she began working for Premier Family Medical as a receptionist while attending UVU. But as she dove deep into pre-med classes — which she loved — it was apparent business was her specialty. So she received a bachelor’s in healthcare administration. In 2019, she joined Mountain Point Medical Center as marketing coordinator and physician liaison, as well as working on their real estate development. It’s the perfect blend of medical care and business smarts — just what the doctor ordered.
PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT Speaking at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) National Congress regarding workflow and patient engagement processes I helped implement to improve quality of care provided by primary care physicians. LEADERSHIP STYLE Everyone sweeps the floor. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what your title is — we all sweep the floor. I like to try and understand the pressures, struggles, and positive parts about each person’s position. Only through true understanding can you gain respect and lead. WOULDA-COULDA-SHOULDA For a long time, I felt that opportunities to advance and grow professionally would be presented as I earned them. I recognize now I need to fight for opportunity. WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH Take the problem head on. MAIN MOTIVATION Opportunity. Not just personally, but how much opportunity Mountain Point has to grow. ULTIMATE CAREER DREAM To continue my career in healthcare administration. Only time will tell where it takes me.
