The environment … but make it fashion. Lucy Bergström Hutchins has a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and graduated from the fashion institute in Salt Lake in 2016. In 2017, she started Moby Thrift with her husband to help educate and combat the harms that “fast fashion” has on our planet (it’s one of the earth’s biggest polluters). Moby Thrift sells vintage clothing in a modern way — and helps everyone stylishly do their part. In 2020, she added looks to her lewks. Hutchins started Retroflect, which sells retro vinyl mirrors, and at the end of 2020, they opened a brick and mortar, which is home to both businesses.
PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT Starting a second business and opening a brick and mortar in the middle of a pandemic. Also seeing people I look up to and admire who have my product. LEADERSHIP STYLE I always strive for synergy. It’s important for me to have a common goal and know what everyone can bring to the table. WOULDA-COULDA-SHOULDA Understand taxes better. WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH Oldest saying in the book: Communication is key. Also allowing myself to fail and not look at it in a negative way. There is always a lesson to learn. MAIN MOTIVATION Bringing uniqueness, individuality and sustainability to my customers. ULTIMATE CAREER DREAM To never work a 9-5 so I can spend time with my family while having a successful brand.
