All rise for the swag king! With a background in accounting, business, and marketing, Steve Anderson learned branding to a Tee. After college, he had been working for Hewlett Packard on their internal marketing and branding team. When they closed their Utah office in 2011, he saw an opportunity to land them as a client and created Elevate Promo. Ten years later? HP is still a client. In the past decade, the Lehi company has enjoyed speedy growth, a stint on the Inc. 5000, and a sizable space in a hyper competitive market.
PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT Hitting 10 years in business. When we started I thought, “If we could just get to 1 year, 3 years, 5 years … then we would make it.” Here we are at 10 years and I still feel like we’re just getting started! LEADERSHIP STYLE Letting people do their job the way they want to — and let their performance speak for itself. I love to help people find the right seat for them on the Elevate bus. WOULDA-COULDA-SHOULDA I wish I could go back and more quickly hire people to take over more of the day-to-day of the business. I always worried more about how much it cost to hire someone. I didn’t realize how much holding onto control would inhibit our ability to grow. WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH I do not get upset or frustrated easily. It’s strange, but the more chaotic the problem, the more calm I get. I am very much a blue sky/ big picture thinker. This has been a huge blessing in my life. MAIN MOTIVATION I have not found a better way to serve than by owning a business. This includes my family, everyone who works for us, and everyone who works with us. They count on me to be honest and to build a company that provides a great service and product. ULTIMATE CAREER DREAM To keep creating. I love to innovate. I love strategy. I love to find better ways to do things. Elevate lets me do all of that while still providing a place where our people can grow and succeed.
